Standard Load
OIT installs a collection of software on computers across campus that includes tools commonly used at Washington College. This base of applications is known as the "standard load" and includes things like Firefox, Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, etc. The faculty and computing facilities standard loads are:
Licensed Software
In addition to the standard load, OIT maintains a comprehensive collection of software that is available to you. Washington College buys a set number of software licenses and then manages the number of people using a given application. Rather than owning your own copy of an application, this licensed software is "borrowed" in much the same way as a library book - provided there are enough copies available at any time.
